My research field is wide as I am working with many different animal species and a variety of diseases, mainly in connection with diagnostic pathology. My thesis was about paratuberculosis in goats, a study on the uptake of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis and the pathology of early subclinical infection.

Ongoing projects include:

  • Evaluating the effect of fluoride exposure on the teeth and jawbones of sheep on farms in the vicinity of aluminium smelter plants
  • Studying the pathology of the ptarmigan, as a part of a large project on Ptarmigan health in the field
  • The pathology of lung diseases in sheep, focusing on the two main diseases mycoplasmosis and pasteurellosis
  • Immunohistochemistry, as a tool in the diagnoses of infectious agents and specific cell types or other markers. Also testing out new antibodies
  • Evaluating the effect of volcano eruption on animal health, focusing on the lungs of sheep as indicator for possible adverse effects of ash on humans
