Title - Neuromuscular Tissue Engineering: In vivo studies with cellular therapies in models of severe lesion
Short resume: Dr. Tiago Ramos Pereira in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Porto in 2004. He completed internship/externship at the Equine Military Hospital of Mafra (Portugal) and at the Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center, California (USA). He carried out activities as an equine clinician at Casal do Rio Equine Veterinary Center, Pontevedra (Spain) between 2005 and 2009. Provided services in 2009 at the Biotechnology Center of the Azores (Biotechnology) University performing both equine clinical and research activities. In 2009 he obtained the GPCert in Equine Practice from the European School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies (ESVPS) after completing a postgraduate course in the same area. In 2014 concluded the PhD in Veterinary Sciences of ICBAS-UP with the title "Neuromuscular Tissue Engineering: in vivo studies with cellular therapies in models of severe injury". Member of the CECA-ICETA Research Unit of the University of Porto since 2010. He is currently an Assistant Professor in ICBAS, member of the Veterinary Clinics Department Council and member of the Cientific Board of Veterinary Sciences Doctoral Program in ICBAS. Currently lecturing in the curricular units of Animal Exognosis and Management, Imaging, Surgical Semiology, Anesthesiology and Surgery of Livestock and Equine Species integrated in the study plan of the Integrated Masters Degree in Veterinary Medicine (MIMV). He has been supervisor of MIMV curricular internships in the field of equine medicine and surgery, as well as students from the Doctoral Program in Veterinary Sciences (ICBAS-UP). Also responsible for the management of the Equine Clinical and Surgery services in the Agrarian Campus of Vairão (CCEV), of which he is a member of the clinical team. His main areas of interest are Equine Imaging and Surgery in which he completes several foreign training programs (mainly focused on minimal invasive surgery), dedicating his research to the area of Regenerative Medicine (Cell therapy and Tissue Engineering) and Experimental Surgery in which he is the author of book chapters and several scientific papers in iinternational indexed journals, as well as several communications and panels in national and international congresses.
