GPMLS (Graduate Programme in Molecular Life Sciences)

The GPMLS aims to enhance education and research in the field of molecular life sciences and to make research training in this field internationally visible and sought after. GPMLS involves participants from the School of Health Sciences and the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences at the University of Iceland.

Graduate students in life sciences as well as their supervisors from other institutions are warmly welcomed. You can register here.

About GPMLS

GPMLS is short for „Graduate Program in Molecular Life Sciences“ and is part of the Health Science Institute of the University of Iceland (is: Heilbrigðisvísindastofnun).

  • GPMLS aims to strengthen the research community within Life Science by inviting foreign scientists to present the latest research and advances in their respective fields and provide students with opportunities to engage in more in-depth and private discussions with them.
  • GPMLS offers courses to students and researchers to enhance their skills in various methods used in research and work within Life Sciences.
  • GPMLS provides students with the opportunity to present their work before the community.

Auður Anna Aradóttir Pind is the project manager of GPMLS.

On a Monthly basis
GPMLS offers keynote lecture events where speakers are invited to Iceland to present their work to GPMLS members. Students and other GPMLS members get the chance to meet the speakers over lunch or dinner to interact and strengthen the network between universities or institutes.

On an Annual basis
GPMLS Retreat (Spekigleði in Icelandic)  is a yearly event that takes place each autumn. Here the members of the association are provided with the opportunity to present their research and become acquainted with ongoing studies. The Retreat also serves as an excellent occasion for students and group leaders to strengthen their network and thereby enhance collaboration between scientists, enabling them to build interdisciplinary research projects.

On an Ad-hoc basis
Various courses and seminars to strengthen both academic and professional skills.
