Anna Margrét Halldórsdóttir, MD, PhD, obtained her medical degree from the University of Iceland in 1998 and is board-certified in clinical pathology and transfusion medicine. After postgraduate training in pathology and internal medicine at Landspitali University Hospital, she finished a residency in laboratory medicine (clinical pathology) and a fellowship in transfusion medicine, both at Washington University School of Medicine / Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She defended her PhD thesis titled „Genetic and Epigenetic Profiling of Mantle Cell Lymphoma and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia“ from Uppsala University in 2011. She is currently consulting physician at the Department of Transfusion Medicine at Landspitali University Hospital of Iceland.
Anna´s research has mainly focused on the molecular biology of hematologic neoplasms. Her recent translational research projects have described genomic aberrations and global epigenetic profiles of mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Research interests include using high-resolution microarray and sequencing platforms to uncover the genetic and epigenetic landscape of neoplastic cells.
