The opening seminar for this semester will be given by Sonja Srdanovic PhD and ARD Scientist at Alvotech with the title: Targeting protein-protein interactions in drug discovery
Protein-protein interactions (PPIs) are involved in most biological processes and understanding this complex network of interactions is central to recognizing how their impairment leads to the development of diseases. Considering how expandable the “druggable genome’’ becomes by targeting PPIs as therapeutic targets, development of PPI inhibitors and stabilizers becomes of the highest value. However, their identification remains challenging due to the shallow and extended nature of PPI interfaces, thus several approaches have been developed to overcome these obstacles: from small-molecules and natural products to peptides and peptidomimetics. This talk will cover recent efforts in chemical biology and medicinal chemistry that highlight the importance and feasibility of developing PPI modulators.
The talk will be broadcasted on Zoom from 11:30:12:10 January the 15th.
