Title: Use of flow cytometry in cell analysis and cell sorting

Abstract: Flow cytometry is a powerful tool used to analyse expression of molecules on or inside cells. By using selection of antibodies labelled with different fluorochromes it is possible to analyse many molecules per cell and allows detection of minute cell populations. Flow cytometry can also be used to sort cell populations of interest from a large pool of cells.

The technique of flow cytometry and the equipment at the Department of Immunology will be introduced.  This includes how different fluorochromes work and how to choose a proper panel of antibodies to detect the cell/cells of choice.

Examples of projects using flow cytometry for analysis and cell sorting will be presented.
