Title: Harnessing DNA repair defects to develop new therapies for cancer

Abstract: DNA repair deficiencies occur frequently in cancer cells. Professor Ahworth will describe how these defects can be therapeutically exploited using synthetic lethality. The development of PARP inhibitors for the treatment of BRCA-related cancers will be used as an example of this. How this general approach can be applied more broadly for cancers with BRCAness will also be discussed.
