Title: Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) – samples preparation and imaging

Abstract: This seminar is intended to introduce TEM to researchers, how the facility operates and how TEM can be used to get results. In this seminar we will talk about:

• What kind of equipment we use in TEM facility for samples preparation and imaging
• Resin embedment – how we prepare tissues, cells grown in monolayers and suspension
• Sectioning of thin and ultra-thin sections with Ultramicrotome
• Samples preparation for Cryo-sectioning
• Sectioning in Cryochamber
• Immunolabeling

After description of each technique we will show and describe pictures obtained from Transmission Electron Microscope. If you are interested in visualizing your results in sharp detail, the Electron Microscope is what you want!
