Title: Genetics of Pulmonary Fibrosis

Abstract: In his lecture Dr. Schwartz will discuss the extensive research he has done on the genetics of pulmonary fibrosis both in sporadic and familial cases. Among gene variants that have been discovered is one in the promoter region of the MUC5b gene that affects mucin production in the airways. This has lead to new ideas about the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis as Dr. Schwartz will discuss further.
