Prof. Christine Mummery, Professor of Developmental Biology and Chair of the Department of Anatomy and Embryology, LUMC, Leiden, the Netherlands
Title: „Human pluripotent stem cells in modelling cardiovascular disease: the new patient“
Prof. Mummery will describe how her research group derive cardiac and vascular cells of the heart from human pluripotent stem cells and use these for disease modelling to understand mechanisms of disease, identify therapeutic targets and find which drug might be cardiotoxic. She will also illustrate the importance of using isogenic pairs of diseased and healthy control lines in making conclusions about disease mechanisms.
